Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Neil Armstead
For today's mission Neil and Caprice met at the Porterhouse in Westbourne and, resisting the urge to pop in to the pub, headed off down Poole Road on the way to the mission location near Broadstone. The run took us up and down hills on the way there giving us a good workout and taking us through scenic industrial estates too.....We made excellent time though and soon arrived at Ms V's address ready to tackle the curtains.
Ms V explained that usually her daughter would help but had recently broken her ankle so couldn't get up to the windows to be able to take the nets down. Ms V was unable to do it herself due to some built in furniture that would not be safe for her to climb on so she was really stuck. This is the kind of thing GoodGym is there for and it felt great to be able to go and do what seems like a fairly simple task but what is actually impossible for Ms V.
Clambering onto the furniture Caprice got to work taking down the nets in one room while Neil sorted the curtains in the next room. Once down Ms V asked if we would mind opening the windows for a little bit and giving them a quick clean. Cracking out the Mr Muscle and dusters soon the windows were gleaming! Ms V explained how she would be giving the nets a good soak for a couple of days before they'd be ready to go back so another GoodGym mission is on the cards to help with this!
After saying our goodbyes we took off on a different route back to Westbourne for a bit of variety. The route took us past Hatchpond where we said hello to a big group of ducks and ducklings before heading up a never ending incline alongside a roaring dual carriageway! The rain that had been threatening us since we started finally arrived and was nice and refreshing as we ran our way back through Rossmore; Branksome Rec and along Surrey Road back to Westbourne!
Another good job done!
