Report written by Paul Salman
Sixteen keen goodgym runners turned out to help Martin Primary school. Gathering at the Phoenix we numbered up and discussed or favourite books( or tried to remember the last time we had read one in my case!)Welcome to Sara who joined us for her first good gym run….. give her a shout out! Barnet are the twenty second Goodgym area to form and we were asked to represent this in a photo ….as you can see its a very technical over head shot! … ( you didn’t know we had a GGB drone) We warmed up outside the Phoenix and then set off with Sally and Fay back marking. It was a short 1.5km run to the school along the high street. We stopped for some paired exercises, squat kicks and some arm resistance work. On arrival we met with John and he explained what we had to do. Using two wheel barrows and a couple of bins we had to transport wood chip down into the woodland to build paths for the school children. Taking turns to shovel and transport we whittled the pile down and improved some of the tracks around the schools woodland. We need to warm up again to do a bit of circuit training to music on the schools five aside hard court. We split into pairs and alternately encouraged each other to complete thirty seconds of exercises. Sprints, Star jumps and press-ups. Everybody worked well and we still had enough energy for some spontaneous dancing and to gather for a group picture in the theme of a Boy band album cover. (its obvious .....isn’t it and also an excuse for a title pun!)
Thanks for coming and doing good!
