Eight fantastic GoodGym-ers joined me in Brent to help Harlesden Town Gardens AND the Mapesbury Dementia Garden!
We also welcomed Rachael who has moved to Brent having previously been a GG Cardiff member and Ellen who was at GoodGym for the first time - great to have you both along!
Two tasks
So as mentioned we had a last minute request to go and help at the dementia garden we helped move plants for a couple of weeks back. We had a decent crowd of runners tonight so we decided we would send a few runners to help out at the garden. Clare, Pete and Tabitha duly went off to Mapesbury and helped out over there. The rest of us were off to Harlesden Town Garden. We've helped there a number of times but this was our first visit this year and we were helping with some clearing and some sawing off logs.
Corner of Doom
The 'Hole' Team: So the task over in Mapesbury was to dig some big holes to get the larger shrubs planted in the garden. The three I sent were definitely up to the task and did a sterling job helping with some of the planting that was left and getting the holes dug.
The 'Ivy' Team: Two job for us to get done. Loads of ivy and shrubbery had been chopped down at the back of the park (some near the corner of doom... if you know, you know) and we had to get it all cleared up. Avoiding some super prickly branches we all got set moving the plants out, chopping them down and getting them into huge builders sacks to be taken away! The second job was trimming down some logs so they could be used to make shelter. The logs were sawn to size and then any 'sticky out bits' (technical term) were sawn off to ensure the logs could be held together smoothly.
With that all done we ran back to base, met the Mapesbury trio, stretched off and then went for a deserved drink before heading home!
Top evening everyone - we're most likely going back to the dementia garden to help with tonnes of mulch next week. Sign up here.
Cheers, Pritesh
p.s. I know it's not christmas but the pun fit!
