Leading up to tonights group run some were put off by the rain and horrible conditions however the magnificent 7 was not to be stooped, as we were a force to be reckoned with.

We had a date with Pam at the allotments and we were not going to cancel on her because despite the horrible conditions we were committed to our task.

Gone with the wind

As we went outside for our warm up the rain had stopped but the wind seems to have missed the memo because as we ran along Wellesley Road we felt gale force winds but tonight we were running in a close knit group so we had each others back and ensured no one had gone with the wind.

Lucky Number Se7en

Call it faith or what you want, it must be luck, or you could say it is our destiny, but whatever it was apart from water on the path we arrived at the task warm and rearing to go. Pam had a few bags of wood chips she wanted to be spread along the path to even out the surface for her service users both those who uses wheel chairs and the less mobile. We headed off to the shed to grab the tools and set about forking the the wood chips in the bags to loosen them up so we could shovel it it into the wheel barrows. After a few trips we were able to drag the bags to the area we were covering and emptying them out for those the the forks and rakes to spread. After forking about for a while we had spread all the wood chips that was available and with a few minutes to spare we also helped by taking bits of wood and rubbish to an area next to the gate to be dumped.

Excited about what we had done and knowing our customs Pam was quick off the mark to gather us all together for a group photo before we said our good byes and ran back to solutions.

Over the past few years GoodGym has been doing aid stations at the VirginSport races this year, the first is the Hackney Half in May.

Help get GoodGym out in front of the people racing and make an impression, if you're not racing why not sign up to volunteer and get to meet other GoodGym members from other areas.

These are the details: Date – 17th May Task - Handing-out water Location – Outside Hackney Empire (15mins walk from the Central Line) Incentive – Free VirginSport bib - so for the next Hackney Half, Oxford Half, or the Asics10K.

Next week we are heading to Tunstall Nursery, Sign up here
