Our mission to finish gravelling the maze became a bit more complicated when we arrived to find a jungle where the maze had been.

The team set to work hacking back the hugely overgrown perimeter, and trimming the grassy ‘islands’ to find the maze outlines we’d made on our last visit.. all whilst trying not to trample the lovely wildflower which had sprung up.

Once the jungle was back under control, Leanne took on the duty of ‘Queen of the Map’, and did lots of walking around in circles checking that we were re-edging the right bits to match the actual maze to the map.

This is IMPOSSIBLE. Who has a pen??

Nobody had a pen and it was very tricky to remember which bits we’d done so I suggested Leanne use the power of technology, so she took a close-up photo of the map which she could draw on, on her phone.

We started to make progress and soon enough all the drainage channels were cleared, a frog was rescued, the bags of gravel were emptied and the maze definitely looked like a maze, not a jungle.

Michael cracked open the Oreos to celebrate us having used up all the gravel, but I reckon we’ll definitely be back to keep topping it up!
