All good things come to an end for another year

It was our last visit to St Botolphs Church Garden this year and we were warmly welcomed by Val, Rik and Sue ( from Heene Cemetery)

Tonight there was a warm, friendly, fun vibe amidst the GoodGymers which is very typical of our group :)

Gillybean and Ricky were in charge of taking down and chopping up a very large shrub next to the wall in the west end of the garden.

Barbara was in charge of sowing some small plants in the north of the garden. You may not recognise her from her photo as she likes to remain mysterious :)

Belinda arrived straight from her computer and wasted no time in pruning another large shrub on the south side of the garden

Every photo tells as a story

Whilst all this was happening our 2 resident Laurel and Hardy's aka Sarah and John were in charge of re positioning the stepping stone path to the air raid shelter that we have been gradually uncovering over the months that we have been visiting St Botolphs. This involved taking up the paving stones, levelling the soil and re laying the slabs. The photos will definitely tell the story :) But in the end the job got done and it was done well !

Helter Shelter Rik kindly opened up the old shelter for us all to take a look inside. If only walls could talk! It would have been fascinating to hear the personal accounts of so many that took refuge there.

The plan is to re purpose the shelter as a craft centre and we cant wait to follow the progress on this ( Thank goodness they will have a great path to walk on to get into it !!)

The light went so quickly tonight so we packed up tools etc and Belinda gave Sue a helping hand returning them to Heene Cemetery before it got too spooky! With a great night shot group photo ( thank goodness for my android phone!) we all headed home.

Jays 100th

Next week is Jays 100th so it would be lovely to see as many of you as possible. Meet at the task at Worthing Leisure Centre at 6 pm or at the Brew House at 7:15 pm for a drink with optional food for those who would like it.

Have a great week!

Julia xx
