Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
What I love most about every night of the week is that regardless of how tired I may be when I arrive I am always filled with energy and excitement. The people that come to GoodGym are always so happy, so chirpy and always wanting to know how they can do more and last night was no different. Our task for the evening took us weaving through Oxford Street, Old Bond Street, flying through Green Park and a stroll down Vauxhall Bridge Road arriving safely at Small Works.
Small works is a charity that similar to ourselves works closely with the community in a bid to prevent older people from being left alone and isolated.
We were invited by the lovely Stephanie to help out with a rather gloomy outside corridor. It was our job to clean and improve this area in time for a community open day in the coming weeks.
The brick work in this underground cave was once pretty and orange but over the years the weather and pollution had taken its toll and was now a not so shiny black, grey with some hints of green.
A quick briefing and scrapers at the ready with 30mins on the clock we began.
A beautiful rhythmic noise as we all worked as one. “Ting, Ting, Ting, Ting”. That’s exactly what it sounded like lol.
With 5 minutes to go some started sweeping up as others washed the walls down with some bleach and boiling hot water.
With half the cave complete we will return next week to finish off the task at hand.
Tea, biscuits, coffee, cake, home to bed.
