The squatting cat
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.
- Saturday, 8th of April 2017
Two runners headed to Lewisham to help clear the weeds for Ms G, oh and solve the problem with the neighbours cat.
Ms G has lived in her house for over 30 years and is proud of how well kept it once was. Over the last year Ms G's health has begun to deteriorate so she isn't able to tend to the garden as well as she used to. So Ivo and Nina set to work clearing the weeds from the patio whilst Ms G told some anecdotes of her time from being a nurse.
"It feels good to help people, I'm not as active as I used to be with my volunteering, but I do still find the time to visit sick people in my neighborhood. So, it is nice that the favour of volunteering is being returned to be."
Ms G's neighbours cat had been squatting (Literally!) in her garden, so she wanted us to remove the wood chip and cover the area with some concrete slabs. Gloves on, dustpan and brush at the ready and five minutes later the area was no longer the cats litter tray, but a lovely patchwork patio area.
A quick 45 minutes of work, two happy runners and one Ms G who feels more control of the garden. A Saturday morning well spent.
