Excited tension was in the air today at the TAWS foodbank as we were set a challenging mission. It was to pack 100 food parcels for a local university to distribute to their students having to isolate in halls of residence. The challenge was twofold. Firstly, we had to use a more studenty range of food (it was all food for anyone thinking that we loaded it up with vodka and red bull). Secondly and infuriatingly, it meant for a slightly bulkier range for one bag. There were five of us on it at one point, all trying to find the perfect ergonomic packing technique. In the end, we found that no matter how careful (everyone else) or slapdash (me) we were, the end result was still the same: a groaning carrier bag looking well beyond full at the point that you get to the final item, just a 1kg bag of sugar! All the same, by the time I left, about 75 of the bags were prepared with some of the tiniest knots you will ever see. I was proud that I only split two bags, having to re-bag them.
