The thorny issue of clearing the garden
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Greenwich.
- Sunday, 20th of January 2019
We arrived at Mrs Z's house on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon. We were shown through the side gate and quickly saw that we had our work cut out as there was more bramble than garden!
Mrs Z's daughter told us she struggled to get to her washing line so we mainly focused our efforts there. After clearing for a while we eventually started to see some signs of patio tiles underneath the overgrowth! Inspired by this we carried on chopping, hacking and digging until we had forged a nice clear path between the back door, the side gate and the washing line.
Finally there was just time to transfer as many of the cuttings into the garden waste bin as we could, while trying to avoid getting spiked too much by the thorns! When we downed tools and stepped back the transformation in an hour and a half was quite amazing and should really help with moving around the garden.
After saying our goodbyes we set off and were rewarded with a beautiful sunset during the run back.
