This evening I met up with Frances for a mission in Newham for Mr G.

Mr G has mobility issues and uses a walker to get around. In order to help make some more space in his home, GoodGym were asked if we could remove a double bed from an upper floor of the house to the outside for collection by the council.

After making our hellos to Mr G, we got started.

Our initial instructions had indicated that the bed frame was very heavy. Luckily, it was already dismantled, and it was light enough in its dismantled state to carry out with relative ease (even more luckily, there were no awkward corners to confuse the issue).

However, where our luck ran out was with the mattresses. There were two of them, which seems like pure extravagance for one double bed.

One of mattresses was a pretty standard heavy-ish mattress with few grips but a lot of structural integrity. Great! I like integrity of all forms, and especially in its structural form in mattresses.

The other mattress was a beast, far heavier than the bed frame (springs and wooden frame included). What's worse, is that it was a lazy beast that tried to collapse into itself with the least provocation, cleaving to the floor as we dragged it along (very much like this cat on a treadmill (cats on treadmills are one of my favourite YouTube cat-egories 🤓)). This ultimately meant that we had to repeatedly cartwheel the mattress to get it into the garden by tugging in sequential positions around the mattress's edge, where it promptly gave up for the night (as did we).

Furniture moved, we made our goodbyes to Mr G and ventured home to celebrate the end of January 🎉

Hopefully see you soon, Frances! 😊
