26 excellent humans ran 8km to the Portico and back, completed the Twelve Days of Portico carol-challenge and helped tidy up for the winter break. Lovely!
Massive congrats to Lambeth task force member Victoria, who got her wings t-shirt this week.
We were off to community centre the Portico Gallery in West Norwood. They run the monthly West Norwood Feast and all of the gazebos needed packing down for the winter. We took them out of big black bins and split them into four important piles:
Some people also helped to move some chairs out of the way and put some lights away from the Festival of Lights at the weekend. John Hunter didn't really do anything except for take portraits of people with his fancy new phone, then he used some weird FaceApp to give Tom Hunter a slightly creepy smile.
I'm really not helping at all. Said John Hunter. Whilst not helping at all.
To get there and back, we split into three groups - the Relaxed Runners, the Fence Sitters and In a Hurry-ers. Each team was led by brilliant Task Force members and had to complete the Twelve Days of Portico. It's a well known Christmas Carol involving FIVE BURPEEES and other such things. On returning to base, the whole song completed by all, we enjoyed a late Bake Off offering... some Rocky Roads made by Emily. Yum!
The Portico Gallery is a sprawling space that offers everything from yoga to art and pottery classes as well as running monthly music nights and the famous Feast market. The space supports many community groups, including those on low incomes, asylum seekers and other vulnerable people.
