Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by anne malcolm
The wheels on the bed go round and round. And there in lay the problem. The wheels made the bed more mobile than Mrs E, who wanted to get in and out of the bed safely without it rolling out from beneath her. So, David and Anne agreed to pop round and take the wheels off the bed.
After a quick review of the situation and agreeing the best approach, the duo started by maneuvering the bed into the optimum position before lifting one side and then the other to remove the wheels. The drawers of the divan were a minor hinderance. The clips that kept the two sides of the bed together were uncooperative, giving the two volunteers more pieces of bed to juggle than expected. And once the castors were removed, the team found that the bed hoist frame did not fit quite so perfectly under the bed as it had when the wheels were attached and provided some clearance from the floor. The initial result was a somewhat higgledy-piggledy sleeping arrangement.
On the plus side, despite coming prepared with a set of screw drivers, there was absolutely no need for tools just some good old fashioned brute force, particularly with the less obliging wheel. There is always one.
And after a little more to-ing and fro-ing; the removal of an errant spray from between the uncoupled divan parts; the reassembly of said 2-part divan base; and one final shove to ensure the headboard was up against the back wall, the job was done and the GoodGymers were bidding farewell to a grateful Mrs E.
