An impressive turn out of hardy @GGSHEFF runners rocked up to the run last night on a cold and blowy Sheffield Tues eve to run to Lynwood Gardens to help Regather with the continued work on this fantastic city based garden and kindergarten. There was still snow on the ground, but there is snow rest for the wicked so we got on with the job in hand!

After a brief brief we headed out into the cold night air to Lynwood, keeping the group nice and tight to protect us from the wind and keep spirits high.

On arrival at Lynwood our numbers were boosted up to 20 strong and we made like penguins, huddled together to keep warm and hear from GORGEOUS GARETH who had our instructions for the eve.

The task for the evening involved a real multi-discipline group effort to move as much wood chip from the entrance of the gardens onto the surrounding paths inside the walls that have become muddy and mulchy, making it hard to work in the area and not as appealing to use.

We split into:

  • Shovellers (Harrison Fork & Spade Dunner - The Sequal)
  • Wheelbarrowers
  • Bag Carriers
  • Spreaders (Put on a high fibre diet)

Gareth lead us up the garden path to show us where we would be spreading in the night garden.

How much wood, could a goodgymer chuck? Apparently a lot! Time went quickly and by the end of the evening you could see the steam rising from both the wood chip pile and our runners and you could smell the pine from the woodchip in the air - magical.

We will be back to continue our work at Lynwood as runners and Gareth alike were pining for more at the end....

Until next time...

Thanks very mulch! - James Alder
