Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Apparently, Boris has been e-mailing people about GoodGym…anyone seen him on any runs? Thanks to the recommendations and the volunteer team at Imperial College we had a good few newbies come down to Westminster GoodGym who were soon put through their paces!
After a bit of Human Frogger through Oxford Street/New Bond Street we got to run through Green Park. It’s a good thing we’d all buddied up as it gets a bit scary and dark….
Running onwards through Victoria as fast as we could, we headed towards the Radio Station we’ve been helping with refurbishments since about August. They’re so in demand at the moment, we arrived in the middle of a live show.
Not to be disheartened, Cory took his chance to really show us how to use the city to train up! We did a complicated traffic-light loop the loop, raced around parks and completed sprint drills.
Being really keen, we decided to run even further before realising we’d managed to go the wrong way, leaving a small group wondering where we’d all got to. As if by magic we all popped out at the same street at the same time as if it was meant to be.
Everyone arrived back at base feeling awesome! Our first-time runners did a fantastic job completing the 5.5mile trip and once again, the highlight has got to be seeing a group of 20+ people doing squats on Regent Street.
A truly enjoyable experience and a great way to use the city as a playground.
