Wow, what a great afternoon!! Whilst 5 people signed up for the task initially, I was welcomed by 9 enthusiastic Goodgymmers at the Cranbrook Community center in Bethnal Green. For some runners, it was even their 2nd mission that day!

The task owner explained all the various tasks she wanted to get done, and the group got right into it. One team started to clear the beds, so they would be ready to be sprinkled by a great natural fertilizer: chicken manure (kudos to Chris as it was his first GG experience).

Another team cleaned the back of the center, clearing all the autumn leaves and getting the place organised so it is easy to access when the spring comes around!

Last, but certainly not least, Isabelle cleaned the garden and potted some lovely flowers (see pics!)

As a little surprise, the community center offered to the group to take some veggies home. Someone enjoying a nice rhubarb cocktail this evening?

Thank you everyone! I got a lovely message from the task owner and she would love to see us back in the next few weeks to get more winter veggies planted!

This award-winning garden was designed and built from a desolate children’s playground nearly 10 years ago. The garden is maintained by residents of the estate and surrounding area, and aims to bring the whole community together to create social cohesion to this corner of Bethnal Green.
