Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Eduin Boater Latimer
Earlyish on a Sunday morning Abi and Eduin set out on what they thought would be a regular GoodGym Mission. They arrived at Mr P's house, to find out that it was not going to be an ordinary challenge, but in fact an epic struggle against nature. Mr P provided some tools and binbags and told them that the garden was a bit of a jungle. This was a very accurate description.
The garden was overrun with blackberries and the accompanying brambles. It was impossible to take more than 1 step out into the jungle. This garden did not need tidying up it needed to be battled. Abi and Eduin were not daunted by the challenge and secoteurs in hand, stepped out in to the garden. The sun was baking. The kids next door were clearly rascals as there were regular shouts of "you stay there" or "you give me that right now!" Unphased they started to chop.
3 hours later they had produced 6 full bags of weeds and brambles. Heads wilting and sweat dripping they decided to call it a day. There was now room to make 2 steps in the garden rather than 1. They hadn't bested the jungle, but they had made a small dent. That small dent was progress.
Mr P was lovely and provided very cool water and good conversation. There is definitely more work to be done here so I'd recommend it for future missions.
