Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Anita (she/her)
Back at the the Three Pigeons Plot, five GoodGymers donned their gardening gloves for a couple of hours of flower bed fun.
Enjoying unexpected sunshine Nat, Harry and Anita from Richmond, Paul from Croydon and Jenni from Ealing completed a whole variety of tasks: - Weeding the base of the wall around the Three Pigeons apartments, Harry making a massve difference to the look of the area around the plot and along the Thames path. -Sweeping and collecting leaves. - General weeding of the ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ bed. As the bed is a new venture, weโre not entirely sure what is welcome and what is not. Nat and Jenni did a great job concentrated on rooting out things that we could definitely identify as unwanted; such as borage, grass, dandelions and chick weed. As borage is a good plant for attracting wildlife (and has edible flowers that can be added to salads and Pimms) we have retained a swathe of Borage. - Moving plants from the central area of the bed and replanting them . Paul proved to be a master hole-digger, ensuring that the cystus and Liriope muscari that we moved should thrive in their new positions. - Discovering a couple of plants that we missed last week and giving them a hasty planting. - Finding a weeding tool that had been lost last week (hurrah) but unfortunately loosing it again (boo)
This is only the 4th task at the ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ Three Pigeons Plot but weโve already made a big difference. By next summer we hope to have transformed it into a wonderful wildlife garden.
