It was a much much more pleasant looking sky than last week when we gathered at our new meeting point in Museum Gardens. Laura had instructed us to do a run to the task, so off we sped around the gardens before cutting loose and making our way across the road to our favourite (shh, don't tell the others) longstanding Monday night task, with Margaret.

This week, we were presented with a wheelbarrow full of shears and introduced to the problem of the perimeter fence to the family area which had grown rogue over recent weeks and was now encroaching beyond the bars of the garden and onto the street. It all had to go.

An hour of chopping and sweeping up later, we had filled multiple heavy duty bin bags with all manner of green foliage, to be dispensed with. 'Shears!' said John......almost giving rise to this evening's pun.

Hollybush Estate
Hollybush's ‘Rocky’ Gardens and ‘Strawberry Fields’ orchard are now an established nature reserve with 79 growing spaces

The Hollybush and Teesdale Estate Urban Growers project began in April 2009 in Rocky Park – a disused children’s play area. Now enjoyed by the whole community, the area includes seats and communal herb beds for all to use.
