Top Up Card & A View of The Shard
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Lambeth.
- Friday, 29th of January 2021
It was a double mission day for me, with the first deed taking me to Brixton to top up a gas card. After an interesting cycle ride (luckily enough the hideous rain that had been pouring all morning decided stop, but most of London was now just a huge great puddle) I made it to Miss M’s.
Having had the weather we had last week, I couldn’t imagine how things must be without heating... Although as I headed to the Post Office, the sun was blindingly bright, and it was a positively tropical 12 degrees! As I locked my bike up, I eyed up the queue snaking out of the door. Thank God it wasn’t raining, wouldn’t fancy waiting in that. Although another stroke of luck came my way and somehow in the thirty seconds between locking up and crossing the road, the queue had gone, and I was able to jump straight in.
Following a detour to the cash machine (I don’t think I’d used an ATM since 2019!!), the lady at the post office topped up £20 for me onto Miss M’s card, and the only thing to do was to get it back to her.
Another quick whizz down through the vibrant Main Street in Brixton, I knocked on Miss M’s door once more. ‘That was quick’ she gasped as I handed her over the newly credited gas card. Some might say she was gassed with my efforts... She thanked me, and I hit the saddle again to take on my second good deed of the day.
