15 Goodgymers ran between 6-8km and collected a HUGE 46 Christmas Tree's for recycling across Islington
Wow what an evening, we ran a bit further than planned (everyone did amazingly!) - split into two teams across Islington we were able to collect phwoar-ty six tree's left on the street for recycling - boom!
Happy New Year and welcome back - new year, new hat (for me) but same old amazing GG Islington! Welcome along to the newbies Matt and Stephanie - give them a cheer!
In the news this week:
Splitting into two teams, one led by Steve & James and another led by myself we spread across the fine borough of Islington to do some good for our community. Each year people leave their Christmas Tree's out on the street being a hazard and expecting collection from the council, each year Islington Council provide recycling points for these tree's to be taken to and of course each year the GG fairies run around dragging tree's to these recycling points.
Corr furrrrr
Team Steve & James arrived at Barnard Park near Liverpool Street to find only ONE tree in the collection centre - by the time they were done running around Barnsbury, Angel and Caledonian Road area they'd collected a HUGE 20 tree's - they only had 7 people! Boom!
Meanwhile over in Highbury area Team PB spread out around Highbury Barn, the fields themselves and the back streets leading to the Emirates. Every time we thought we'd covered an area we found more and more. Was lots of fun but hard work! Good workout! Overall between 8 of us we collected 26 tree's - HUGE!
46 tree's + 15 GGers = 3.06 tree's per runner
Thanks for an awesome night and a lovely welcome to the new year, see you on Monday where we have three tasks for our third birthday - sign up here
