Have you ever noticed how difficult it can be to tell the difference between a piece of litter and a frost covered leaf?

It was my turn today to take the baton for the GoodGym Newcastle January Challenge Litter Pick Relay. I combined the challenge (task 1) with a walk (task 2 - getting the steps in) to a parcel drop off shop (task 3 - sending some old running shoes for recycling).

It’s been frosty here all week (since the snow melted, anyway) and the frost covered leaves gathered at the edges of the footpaths made excellent camouflage for the litter. A pink scooter stood out though - I hope it wasn’t an already abandoned Christmas present!

The walk home from the shop was more than long enough to fill up a bin bag with litter - and just within the limits of my fingers still having sensation!

The challenge continues …
