Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Simon Fitzmaurice
8 Goodgym folks from Camden and Islington groups logged on for our weekly Saturday Morning Coffee Meet-up this morning (every Saturday, 10 am on Zoom).
Graham and Steve C had made it out for an early morning run around Clapton before joining us. There were plenty of delicious breakfasts on display- Kike fried up some eggs live on Zoom, James served up some delicious pancakes, John brought some fresh avocados and Trainer Simon had a haul of fruit, yogurt and muesli on hand. Sharing breakfast ideas has now become a tradition for these calls!
Glad to catch up with Patrick this morning! He mentioned that work in the homelessness action sector has been really busy recently, with temporary housing in hotels being paused in the next month or so. A lot of folks working in charity and welfare jobs have been putting in a lot of extra time during this transition period (and through the Covid crisis in general). Please remember to take care of yourselves during these trying times.
One of our main topics on conversation was about the upcoming Goodgym Olympics, and how we got on with our entries. If you are still hoping to join in, Tom Benson and the team have added one more final event: The 5km Eliminator. Participants are asked to run a 5 x 1km intervals, with a 60 sec break between each rep, and to record the attempt on a fitness tracker. Submit the run to the event, and a virtual elimination race will be produced for the games next week! Sign up here for more information.
As the Zoom timer ticked away, we asked each other what plans we have post-lockdown. Caroline told us about her plans to travel way up to the most Northern part of Scotland (almost Orkney- 7 hours from Glasgow!) to particpate in a sailing adventure in September. It sounds like an amazing adventure, and we all really hope it all goes ahead for you!
Sign up for next week's coffee times here.
Always a pleasure, folks. Catch you next week!
