Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Tim Dickson
Another cold Monday night Goodgym sess in Bexley but that didn't stop us brave goodgymers turning out to help our friends at the Danson Youth Centre......... Being a few bodies short due to School half term and sickness we huddled up for a group shout before heading our on a run down along the side of Danson Park (can't wait for the lighter nights so we can run the lake again) to the Danson interchange before looping back up the hill to our destination. Greeted by Ben and Joy on arrival, along with saws and gardening tools we were lead down to a bushy tree that needed taking down. Yep, this was definitely a job for Goodgym Bexley. We split into two teams for this task. The boys started the task of sawing at the base, whilst the ladies trimmed off the branches so it would all fit into the bins. After a lot of persuasion and a couple of hand blisters we finally conquered our task. The area was know clear for the skateboarders, and the entrance to the astro turf was now free of branches. Well done gang. Well, coming back to the astro turf. It would of been extremely rude not to take advantage of it, so take advantage of it we did with some fitness drills. Starting off with shuttle runs, into a seated squat sprint out and back, into a high knee cardio burnouts with an added burpee burst, a small pinch of quads on fire, and then finally finishing off with another set of shuttle runs. NiCe!!!! Well, good things always have to come to an end. We left the centre and headed back to Crooklog to finish up to what was a really good evening of laughs and blisters. See you next week guys!!
