Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Rupesh
Five Goodgymmers braved freezing temperatures and snow this morning to help in the Gardens of Stephens House.
Our main task for today was to clear a pile of branches, fortunately we had loppers and saws at our disposal. We alternated between the following two duties - one was cutting the longer thicker branches down to size so that they fit in the trailer that was transporting them away, and the other was to pile up the thinner branches and take them to Alison who was manning the wood chipper.
As the stack of branches began to shrink we split up; with Jenny and Paul dealing with the remainder of the pile whilst Rob, Shawn and myself went along with two of the regular park volunteers to clear up another area of the grounds.
With the task drawing to an end we were thanks for our efforts and rewarded with flapjacks. Before setting off we decided to warm ourselves up with hot beverages, courtesy of Paul, at Inky's Stable Cafe - located within the grounds.
Props to Jenny for the pun!
