I was honestly totally lacking in motivation this morning (for a variety of reasons) but thanks to GoodGym for giving me the inspiration to get active. I feel so much better for it which is one of the reasons I love GoodGym. It definitely provides the feel good factor!

I've never been out on my bike in December before but I decided to cycle from Gateshead across to Walker and it was absolutely lovely and quiet along the Tyne.

I was soon met by Louise and Michael, and we had a great couple of hours helping out at East End Women food bank (provides amazing support and essential supplies to local people in Walker)

It was a while since I had been, in fact the last time I had helped it was a hot sunny day and myself and Louise were in shorts! This wasn't a problem for Louise and she very gratefully helped to show me exactly what needed doing.

We made sure that for each delivery driver, we had exactly the right amount and type of bags, ready to go and be delivered. We gave a hand with carrying them out to each car.

We then generally tidied up in the store room, making sure that tins and packets of food were accessible and easy to find. (There was a slight mix up between meatballs and dog food which we had a laugh about, but I won't mention any names! :-)

On Monday we will be meeting for a walk on the Quayside (sign up is available online in training sessions) but we are also collecting for East End Women. Anji will kindly have her car to accept donations. I'm sure they would be most grateful for any kind of food (tins, pasta etc.) or toiletries (toothpaste, shower gel etc.)

East End Women
A project supporting women with skills and training, education, loneliness and domestic abuse recovery.

East End Women offers practical courses for women to build confidence and skills around DIY, sewing, pattern cutting and basic trades. We also deliver the Freedom Programme domestic abuse recovery course, helping women to better understand the roots of domestic abuse and build confidence to identify warning signs in the future. In addition to this, East End Women also offer social activities and drop-in sessions for women experiencing isolation to meet one another, make friends and build local networks.
