This morning, I met up with fellow Camdenite Frances for a mission in Islington for Ms J.

Ms J currently rents a beautiful basement flat in Islington, having a lovely garden. Unfortunately, it's become a little overgrown as she's become less able to look after it herself. When her children visit, they can only do a limited amount of work in it, as Ms J's lack of mobility means that she needs a large amount of assistance moving at all and they can't really leave her for extended periods of time. Because of this, one of her daughters ("Ms JD") contacted GoodGym to see if we could come and get some of the more overgrown bits under control.

We were welcomed into Ms J's flat by Ms JD, who asked us if we wanted to make a brief hello to Ms J before we started (we did! 😄) Pleasantries over, we got down to business by assessing the jobs to be done.

Although there was a decent amount of weeding to be done on the patio, the bulk of the job was to lop and clear various overhanging plants/trees. Frances got the ball rolling with the lopping whilst I initially gave weeding a trial, all accompanied by tea and Marks and Spencer's biscuits (I think it's important to know the provenance of your biscuits. I mean, they're not just biscuits...). It wasn't too long, however, before we were both lopping away with gay abandon, both being proponents of the Jack the Ripper school of pruning.

At some point, Ms JD came out with more tea and offered her assistance in bagging up some of the debris we'd been collecting on the patio. It was a slow process, as a lot of twigs had to be resized before sticking into the bag. Ms JD seemed really happy with what we'd done and thanked us profusely as we finished up 😄

After two hours or so, we were finally done (just before the rain started!!!), and so we made our goodbyes and headed off to our respective Sundays. We think that there's more scope here for going a bit more of a tidy up (particularly of the weeds that we didn't really have time to get to), so hopefully a follow up mission can be arranged 😄
