SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Lauren Mc Elwaine
This week Eleanor, Michael and I headed back to East End Women's foodbank for our weekly task with this fantastic organisation. As we've all done this task before we were well accustomed to the usual routine, so we got cracking right away!
Firstly, we had a look at the whiteboard to see when the delivery drivers were due to arrive and what assortment of bags they would be collecting (fresh/ ambient/ sanitary/ toiletry). Today the fresh bags contained some mischevious strawberries that like jumping out of thier containers and causing havock!
Once we'd arranged the bags for the first driver we got to work packing the ambient bags. This week had some fancy new plastic bags from M&S that had a very Christmassy vibe. We packed more than 45 bags over the course of the morning!!! We also packed some toiletry and sanitary bags for today's deliveries. We were working so hard that we all managed to rip our gloves!! It was quite warm too, so putting new gloves on over sweaty hands was a task in itself.
When we had finished packing all the ambient bags we started restocking the store room. Michael even did some lovely lunges while stacking some tins- (He was disappointed coach Anji wasn't there to see them, but I can confirm they were 10/10 for both technique and effort!)
Just as we were on the home straight, with only a few more deliveries left to arrange the bags for, we were startled (sort of) with a loud(ish) crash coming from the hallway...! Oh no.... A cardboard avalanche!! We quickly managed to tidy this up to clear the route to the door and organise the bags for the final deliveries.
To top off another great mission at the foodbank, the final delivery driver that arrived had a lovely dog with her! We all had a great time lending a hand again this week with this brilliant organisation!
