Paul and Paul went to help out at Finchley Way Open Space. Whilst you never know what you're going to be doing at a goodgym task I thought maybe some planting, weed clearance, probably some fetching and carrying or shovelling. Nope... "You work with water, can you fix a pump?" "Errrr not really my area". So after testing it in the most scientific of methods ("you're right, it doesn't work") we took the hoses off for transportation back to dealer, then we saw something in the end of the pump we couldn't move, was it a none return valve, a filter? In a back garden with tools a last gasp effort removing the hose attachment plates. Oh, it's a plastic packaging cap. So following a brief joint effort to disassemble, remove cap and reassemble hey ho now it works. Back to the garden for a few minutes pumping to water the plants and then off for coffee. Bit of an odd task but much appreciated by the volunteers as it'll save them a lot of work going forwards. I hadn't been to Finchley Way in nearly 2 years and was amazed how much it had changed from back then removing litter (ok, most of a buried car) in a completely overgrown wasteland to what now has proper paths and plants.
