Last weekend I welcomed Liz from Camden GoodGym and little did I know that I was in the presence of GoodGym royalty. As the 2nd highest mission completer across the whole of UK with a staggering 118 (before the 2 completed on Saturday) she is rightly so the queen of GoodGym missions!

Liz was visiting her family in Caerphilly and decided to take in a couple of missions in Cardiff during her spare time. True dedication to the cause.

Our mission was a re-visit to Mrs V’s who was preparing for not one house move but two as she is planning to move to a new house in Cardiff but also to Spain. Although given the lovely weather we’ve recently been having, I’m sure we could rebrand our area as the Costa del Vale 🌞🌞🌞

Our tasks this time included dismantling a bad, which after a little bit of head scratching over how the slats should be removed, we completed in double quick time. We also took down some curtain rails, wrapped up delicates, and took down a lamp pendant. After an hour, Mrs V had run out of tasks for us but was very appreciative for all that we had done in such a short space of time so myself and Liz made our way to receive our ‘seal’ of approval from none other than Billy the Seal! Liz didn’t know at the time but she even put on her best Seal impression whilst we were dismantling the bed! You can see from the picture in the report.

Billy the Seal was an inhabitant of nearby Victoria Park from 1912 to 1939. It is believed that Billy was caught in fishing nets and then brought to the park to live in what was formerly the paddling pool but now a water splash park. The park itself used to be a partial zoo in the early 1900s so quite possibly a seal wasn’t out of place during those times. Liz had heard about the story of Billy the Seal from her mum so what better way to finish off the mission with a selfie with the statue commerating Billy’s time in the park. I’m sure she (yes Billy was a girl) would’ve had much fun in the splash park as it is now, particularly getting drenched under the big bucket.
