On a cold, drizzly January evening 15 hardy GoodGym runners met at the Old Royal Naval College, eager to warm up by doing good in our local community.

When everyone had arrived we introduced ourselves and discussed the burning issue that we were all dying to know... what toppings do our GoodGym pals like to eat on their toast?? Unsurprisingly there were lots of votes for cheese and peanut butter (excellent sources of calcium and protein indeed!) Plus a few more unusual choices (butter and mustard on toast anyone? Or perhaps some fruit and nut sprinkled on your Hovis?)

After those revelations we dropped off our bags and stretched our legs with a few back and forth shuttle runs in the Naval College grounds. We then took the scenic route along the river path to this week's task at More 2 Childcare, which is a lovely nursery based next to The Forum in Greenwich. This is one of our regular tasks, and we particularly love it because we get to hang out with their giant pet snail - Sid!

When we arrived there were ab-snail-utely loads of great tasks for us to get stuck into! These included assembling a flat pack table, hanging some cabinet doors, vacuum cleaning some rugs, trimming back a tree in the back garden, weeding the flower beds and pots in the front garden and sweeping the front path. Plus there was a slightly out of the ordinary request to paint some little pebbles to look like ladybirds. Luckily we had amongst us three fine artists keen to tackle this challenge!

We all got stuck in and the time flew by as we worked all around the nursery. After half an hour most of us were finished and everything looked great (especially those lovely smiley ladybirds!) Assembling the table turned out to be super fiddly and took longer than expected, but in true GoodGym spirit a few wonderful volunteers stayed behind to finish it before they left. Top marks to you guys for your dedication!

The rest of us headed back to the college for some cool down stretches and to say our goodbyes. Well done everyone and see you all next week!
