Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Peter Van Tongeren
Two lovely members of the Hackney GoodGym team decided to do Royal Tunbridge Wells parkrun as part of their big day, so some of the crew travelled down to Tunbridge Wells to join them.
Arriving at Dunorlan Park the sight of a fire truck was a bit omnious and a quick chat with the two parkrun volunteers waiting confirmed just that. There had been an accident in the park, the run was cancelled! However they pointed out that there was the Tonbridge parkrun not far away at the pool, so a quick few messages & calls to re-direct the rest on their way was followed by programming satnavs & shooting off to the alternative parkrun.
At the pool it turned out there were parking controls, a quick scramble for change meant the ladies & Peter made it to a very relaxed looking Rich at the start just when the run director said go, so everyone went straight into the running. Joel heard everybody setting off from the car park and started from there, not able to track the start of the run due to ongoing updates. It didn't seem to slow him down too much though, soon enough he was making his way up the field hunting down Rich at the head of the pack. At the finish it turned out one of the locals was well ahead, denying Rich a wedding day win, but as always he was all smiles at the finish anyway! Ignoring the slightly messy start to the day everyone had a great time with smiles all around at the finish!
Last but not least, wishing Rich & Ros a wonderful day, looking forward to hearing all about it on the next group run :-)
