Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Pennie Varvarides
This week 8 marvelous GoodGym-ers ran 6km to pull weeds at the Westminster Drug Project in Hendon.
We were joined by GG newbie [Laura] - give her a cheer! Our run to the WDP is one of our longer GG Barnet runs and tonight's was the speediest we've ever done it (according to my Strava). So cheers all around for that one! Well done, team.
Graham helped me lead the pack out, while Task Force Paul was our trusty back-marker.
Once at the WDP, we were greeted by Anna for our (not-so-silent) gardening. Armed with gardening gloves and scraping tools, the team got to work filling the buckets with weeds. We're making incredible progress on the garden!
Paul then lead us to Stephen's House where I took the team through some running technique, to help everyone with their speed and form. Lots of things to focus on and remember, so don't worry if you can't focus on all the things at once on all the runs. We'll go through it all again and give you stuff to practice on your own runs!
Then it was time to go back to base. Sarah helped me lead the group back to base, for a speedy mile and a half home.
At 0.4 miles to base, the speedy runners were given the chance to peg it back to the Phoenix. Graham and Shawn zoomed ahead, with Anna and Jennie not far behind. Rupesh then joined the fun, sprinting ahead for the final stretch.
Great work team!
This week's Barnet Biscuit was the trusty Hobnob
Barnet
It will help make the reservoir cleaner and safer for visitors and the many plants, birds and animals that live there.
