Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Bristol runner
On a sunny August day we arrived at Ms H's house feeling pretty hot (heat wise) after already run a hilly run for the morning task. We were given a lovely welcome by Ms H who gave us an excellent range of tools and she explained how she had wanted to originally create a rustic garden but sadly the weeds and wild flowers had taken over. She gave us a simple instruction of pulling out all of the weeds but just making sure the roses remained we don't want to dig up cats. Work must begin!...
Richard quickly cleared all of the weeds from the steps making them looking like brand new steps. Dave showed the big weeds who was boss by destroying them forever. I pulled lots of the dead flower roots with the strength of my bare hands. We all then worked on clearing some paving stones to reveal a path which had disappeared like a vanishing rabbit in a magic trick.
An hour and a half later we had managed to not only avoid falling off the raised garden, we also managed to fill 4 bags of weeds to the brim. By this time we were feeling the heat so we knew it was put our tools down/bourbon biscuit time which Ms H had very kindly provided. Ms H couldn't believe how much better the garden now looked and was extremely grateful.
Missions are great and I would definitely recommend them as you can really see the difference you can make for the individual. Also as well as working hard, we had a good chat and a laugh it's a brilliant way to spend a few hours.
