A Fab 14, braved the risk of stormy weather, to make Cossall estate look much better. YAY!!

What a wonderful Wednesday it was this week, when I was joined by such fantastic numbers for GOODGYM Southwark. Welcomed as always by the radiant and raucous regulars we were also thrilled to be saying hello to GG Tourists Gosia and David. Also bringing joy to our fit fam, was the legend Deepak who was back as well for the last run of August.

So wasting no time and after the very important discussions about The New Bake Off - YAY OR NAY?? We set off into the night, the 0.6 trot up to Cossall Estate, where our wonderful host Jaki and team from the Cossall neighbourhood group were waiting for us.

Upon arrival it was straight into the action and down to the many jobs at hand. Emma and Giarja got staking new trees into the ground, while the rest of the team split into sub groups and took on tending to The Colossall overgrowth in several spots across the estate.

One group headed towards Victors and supervised by Jaki, with the help of his summer vibeing Reggae tunes got stuck in (the mud) for the next 40mins.

The team worked tirelessly for a massive 45minute blast, hoeing, pulling, raking and lugging heavy bags back to the community centre. And although we were thankful the rain held off, it was slippery, muddy and dirty, but hey hoe, as always, we were as happy as pigs in....... shhhhhhhallsay no more!

When the timer chimed for our last goodbye, we could not have been more thrilled with the achievements of the eve! Particularly because Jaki got her chocolate biscuits out to say thanks!! In fact, the team had never run so fast to get to them!! With bellies full we turned on our heels and led by Josh (our newest urban orienteering captain) we wiggled and jiggled our way through the streets for an..... extra long trot home! We loved the extra route though, so we could stretch out and run like the wind, before the actual rain and wind bit back!!

An awesome eve, a community we did please. Muddy we got and had a good trot. Biscuits and fun, for everyone. Goodgym Peckham, in volunteer heaven!!
