Wet wellies in June? Really?
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Portsmouth.
- Sunday, 27th of June 2021
With wet weather forecast John & Vicki set off to Mr. D with wellies and waterproofs at the ready. Mr. D was surprised we had turned up given that rain was forecast but I reassured him the GG'ers are made of tough stuff. It was dry to start with but it didn't take long for the rain to show up. Fortunately it didn't become too heavy but we were both quite wet by the end of the task. It certainly didn't deter the slugs and snails who made appearances in the hundreds.
The rear garden is quite a size and there is no way this would be completed in one visit and could probably do with more volunteers. It was too wet to even think about tackling the grass, so John & Vicki concentrated on the area nearest to the house and the side entrance.
There was no shortage of weeds to tackle and we attacked the largest items in order to give the maximum visual effect. John tried out his trimming techniques again but Vicki thinks his topiary skills leave something to be desired.
The allotted passed quite quickly and before we knew it we were doing a final tidy up. We had filled 6 bags with green waste, which Mr. D wanted left by the back of the house. We took some final pictures before changing out of our wellies and John went back to show Mr. D the photos of the work we had done. He was very grateful and pleased with the progress we had made
