Today, I "worked" at the Repair Café which took place, this month, at the Old Woking Community Centre. Woking Repair Café is run by Woking Environment Action (WEAct) and is part of the Global Repair Café movement. The aim is to not throw away items which stopped working but are or might be repairable. Volunteers help with free repairs to small electricals, clocks, furniture, garden tools, clothes and textiles. My DIY skills are rather limited, but I welcome people and guide them through the process. It was very busy: 74 items were mended. One hoover took the whole morning and we all clapped when we heard the sound of its engine roaring away! The lady who had brought it in was, of course, delighted! Today the beautiful new "WEAct" banner, made by the Textile Team, was displayed for all to admire!
