12 fantastic runners braved the torrential rain and supported one of the local family hubs in Coventry this evening.
Having started a discussion on current affairs and the soon to be extinct name of 'Garry', we left Drapers in less than ideal conditions, on the run to the family hub the skies managed to just about stave off the rain. However once we started on our tasks the heavens soon opened and drizzle returned. Once we'd been greeted by Bharti, Tim and their wonderful team, we split into three teams, cleaners, weeders and sweepers. The family hub are keen to use their garden area to feed the families of the Foleshill area and tonight we supported them by cleaning much loved toys, sweeping the artificial lawn and clearing nettles and weeds from paths and edges. As the task was quite a distance from the start location, we couldn't stay for long but a massive difference was made in the time we were there. We returned to Drapers, completing several hill reps on he way. Although Damian led most of the reps, Kevin out sprinted him on the final rep. Laura P again showed her strengths leading the ladies, closely followed by Hannplang in as the rest of the team smiled and toughed it out on the reps. Good running all.
All the best to Alan running tomorrow at Sphinx 5, look out for Laura P marshalling.
Look forward to seeing those of you who are attending our first community mission on Saturday- meeting at the Herbert Art gallery and 3.45pm for the Creativity and Wellbeing festival Here is the link to enter Silverstone 10km on Wednesday 4th September too.
See you next week when we support Mind and have a social, Liz x
