While other GoodGymmers were at parkrun (or even abed since it is a Saturday (also national lazy day 😅)), I met up with James for a mission in Southwark for Mrs H.

Mrs H is currently in hospital. She's scheduled to have a hospital bed delivered on Monday in order that she can be released home. This set of facts leads to the inevitable conclusion that our mission today was to make some space for the hospital bed to fit in. To effect this, we were asked to move some boxes of paperwork into Mrs H's bedroom, and to move a sofa from one side of the living room to the other room (the old spin-a-roo).

As Mrs H wasn't there, James and I were let into Mrs H's flat by a contact from the British Red Cross.

Before moving anything, we looked at the space we had available, as we really didn't want to block access to anything Mrs H might want with heavy boxes (would this be called box access?!). Although we were a little doubtful about exactly how many boxes of paperwork we could fit into the available space, we decided to get stuck in with moving the largest boxes and see what happened.

We didn't bother to count them, but there were a couple of large heavy boxes, some medium less-heavy boxes, and some bags filled with folders. The only snag in moving these came in the form of an attention-seeking carpet, which we circumvented by simply by lifting the boxes over it rather than shuffling them along the floor. Lots of squatting was involved 😬 Moving the sofa was pretty simple too: despite that carpet, it spun around as slowly and inevitably as a spoon in treacle.

After 20 minutes or so of incremental moving and decision-making, we'd made enough space for a hospital bed and so made our goodbyes to our contact and to each other (I promptly bumped into James again about 25 minutes later at Burgess park (each of us having taken different directions to get there) and so had to say goodbye again🤦)

Lovely working with you again, James!
