What's New Pussycat?
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Sunday, 20th of May 2018
Here's what Mrs U of SW11 had to say about the mission:
I just called to say thank you very much for the runners that came on Sunday. I am so happy with what they did. I really do appreciate it, and they were such lovely people.
Today three of us met to help-out in the garden for our charming host in Clapham.
The person who usually tends to their garden had broken their leg, something Paul is all-too familiar with having broken both tibia and fibula himself, alongside most of the other bones in his body - before learning how to list them all in Latin.
It was a blazing hot day (the day of the Hackney Half across town) so thank goodness we were shaded by several trees and a big bamboo. We were also supplied with a range of chilled libations by our gracious host.
Much of the work was collecting leaf litter that had built-up amongst the trees and on the paving. Between that and some pruning and weeding, we filled six black bags in just an hour in a small back garden.
As we said our goodbyes, someone came out to see us off... a six-year-old black and white cat called “TJ” - so named after the 77-year-old orange singer, Tom Jones.
