Report written by Anji Andrews (she/her)
Its been ages since we last saw Darren so it was brilliant to have a quick catch up by the Tyne on arrival tonight. While this was a small group, we were still raring to get going!
Our Group Run tonight was to the brilliant Recyke Y Bike who we have been long-time friends and supporters of. Task owner Sara had three wheelie good tasks for us and we got started within minutes of arriving.
While I am still limited post-surgery, I managed to lend a hand to the first job of the night: moving bikes from a cramped storage room to the main workshop floor (check out the before and after pics!). This was an essential part of the task as it freed up a part of the workshop that has heating, important for Recyke staff to access during the colder months!
Our next two jobs included sorting bike parts into boxes, then wheeling a set of children's bikes to an area away from the main workshop. Sara said this task made a massive difference as it cleared a safer workspace, and also made these bikes more accessible ahead of Half Term week when many of these bikes will be donated to local children. As always, the side task of tonight was cuddling resident Recyke Y Bike pup, Scout. Bonus!
It was a brilliant start to the week!
