GoodGym x Raleigh Launch
It's always feels so good to be back at the allotments with Home-Start Slough.
These allotments are so large yet so tranquil. With our first allotment task of the Spring season, we were equally chilled and raring to get there.
With our meet up point a km and a bit away, Pam was first off the post as she walked down to the task location and the rest of the team did a Jenny Z warm up before take a nice jog down. We were full of suspension on what lay ahead of us in terms of the task.
Sarah, our task owner had said to work on plot 5 hedge end. The trick now was trying to remember which one was plot 5 as our last visit was last October!
As spokes-person, I took the lead role and identified the correct plot! Then in a chain reaction with tools in hand we got to work.
One thing I love about this task is that we all get to work together in the same space and have lovely chats. Between us there is such an en-cyclo-pedia of knowledge that we learn new facts everytime!
As tonight was the launch of the Raleigh and GoodGym partnership each attendee received a lovely gift of mini chocolates and a discount code from Raleigh!
On top of all this excitement we were also celebrating the #100daysofaction with an environmental task. The Home-Start Slough Allotments project helps pre and post natal women to:-
Grow and harvest their own vegetables;
Supports emotional and physical wellbeing;
Make new frienships;
Promote healthy eating
Not only did we turn the soil over ready for planting but we also rehoused a bee! I say 'we' but I mean Jenni! I would bee far too scared of the sting!
We will be supporting this project once a month until October.
Next week we are helping the Ujala Foundation with their community garden, so please do come along.
