Six volunteers met at Upton Court park to do a litter pick, while some of us continued to walk to Eton and back, a 5k round trip. Good to catch up with volunteers new and old.

Clare and Sheila joined the monthly BBOWT workparty at Haymill Nature Reserve alongside a number of regular volunteers. Our task was to repair the structure forming a dam across the stream that runs across the reserve The stream bed was dry, which made our task easier. One group carried out a litterpick along the streambed, amassing 2 big bags of rubbish, while others foraged for saplings suitable for use as stakes. These were hammered in place where needed and hazel whips used to weave between the uprights. Once dead leaves and debris have been caught in the mesh it should prove an effective dam to retain the water. Despite the damp conditions our spirits were high and we were pleased with our handiwork

This morning Clare, Mansoor and Manjit helped Slough Anti Litter with their annual upcycling clothes event.
We were supporting the event by helping to sort through donated clothes, get them all hanged up neatly and help customers.
What's amazing about this event is seeing pre loved items becoming someone else's new loved items.
One lady was going to her first ever Asian wedding this evening and she managed to find 2 stunning Indian dresses to wear! The blue outfit matched her blue eyes so well and what was even lovelier to see was that the lady who donated them was there to see the joy of the new owner in getting 2 new outfits....
The event was to help raise money for a wonderful local charity - Sakoon Through Cancer
