It was lovely to be back at The Haven today, continuing to prepare a Wildflower area at the back edge of the allotment.
Our task was to wheelbarrow cardboard to lay across the chopped down brambles, soak said cardboard with a hose and then cover the area in compost. The cooler weather brought faster barrowing (even with many dodgy wheels to contend with) and we manage to get a large area covered and ready for its next layers.
We also got a taste of fame as we starred in a short film being made about the project and were gifted kale fresh from the ground. Big thanks to Chris, Jenny, Vicki and Mel for all of your help today!
The Haven offers people who have issues around their mental health and/or drug/alcohol misuse their own safe space where they can relax, socialise and be involved with activity's such as gardening, art, sculpture, woodworking and nature conservation. The Haven is a service user led project- everybody involved has the opportunity to plan, develop and maintain the project
