18 Heat Seeking GoodGymers ran 6k to help Hackney Wick community garden dig, scrape and water.
Summer was back in East London! Lovely evening for a top dose of GoodGym running fun!
Rocking and rolling 2.5k down towards Hackney Wick with a 5 minute dynamic activation and Lunge blast! Taking in the crazy sight of a brand new 4x4 car part suspend in the air after what we can assume was suspect driving!
Meeting Kirsty and the gang at the garden we were soon splitting into groups to tackle watering (pulling water from the river to fill the water butt which in tern supplied the irrigation system as well as watering cans to get to the vegetable and herb gardens.
The second group were super scrapers clearing the gravel off the soon to be new flower bed using shovels to scrap it away and fill wheelbarrow and barrow.
The third and final group attacked the over grown bed near the river turning it over and digging out roots and weeds before putting them on the compost pile.
40 minutes of solid but social graft made a huge difference to the garden and we could see a massive change in such a short time!
Great to see the fruits of our past labour with the inverted Polly tunnel doing an amazing job facilitating the growth of loads of amazing plants and flowers!
Before we could head off we were rewarded for our efforts with the magical orange segments, water and my favourite biscuits!
Being well refuelled we powered back to base throwing in some speedy reps up and down the road ladder next to Victoria Park!
A swift trot back (sorry for being a bit late, hope you agree the biscuits were worth it!!) followed by a few static stretches and we were done!
Thank you for coming along! Hope to see you all again next week when we get a little more creative when we create a Wellbeing garden for a local assisted living home.
Have a great week
