12 goodgymers run to the riverpath to litter pick for Rivercare
We welcomed Paul and Geneva, who returned for their second run, and Jade who came for her first. An extra special shout out to Jade, who on her first Goodgym run has written this fantastic run report:
Tonight was my first time attending a GoodGym mission and I felt really welcomed by a very friendly group of runners. There was a group of 12 .The mission was a Wombling for Rivercare litter pick, a favourite amongst many of the regulars from what I could tell!
The cold and dark didn't stop us and after a quick warm up at Leisure World we were off, prepped with head torches and litter pickers. We jogged to a spot along the river and began the litter pick. Although there was slim pickings (a sign of previous good work by the GoodGymers I reckon!) Angela kept us warm and busy with exercises in between the litter picking. The fun fitness session included squats, hops, overhead presses and even squat jumps and one legged squats. The litter pickers were handy fitness tools too!
After the litter picking, we made our way over to the Range and a 400m lap. We made our way round this once and then readied ourselves to do it 4 more times.Angela explained that this was good training for anyone taking on 5 and 10k races. On finishing up we made our way back to Leisure World for a cool down.
Angela let us know that there will a GoodGym parkrun this Saturday, an opportunity to come along to the weekly park run in Castle Park sporting your red GoodGym tshirts. Sign up here
Next week, the task is to run to the Emmaus warehouse to help sort through their clothing display. Sign up here
