Report written by Sheffield runner
On May the 17th, in celebrating lockdown easing we all went to CentreParcs. Well, if we are being accurate, the centreish of Heeley People's Park, to woodchip around the new children's playground path and top up woodchip around the trees.
Heeley People's Park woodchip digging champion Rob (i think i need to work on my illeratation) filled up our woodchip trugs which we carried to the spreading destinations.
Following on from last month's Heeley People's Park Run report (https://www.goodgym.org/reports/we-came-we-trimmed-bushes-and-went-to-the-pub) - we found out a GGr lots of people know aka the Heeley People's Park Truganotor James has slightly longer hair and more beard in lockdown COVID times :)
The sweet smell of woodchip took our minds to holidays away, while Kat took the team on shortcuts across the park to get to the main woodchip spreading location quicker.
Afterall, It's not about the journey, it's about the destination ;)
Next time, we hope to open the task up to more GGrs, hope to see you there :)
Heeley Development Trust (HDT) is a small, charitable development trust, founded by local volunteers, business people & residents in 1996. We have delivered youth, community, environmental and economic development projects in and around our neighbourhood for the last 20 years. We are working hard, developing a diverse range of income, social enterprises and assets, all with the aim of making Heeley a great place to live, with a real sense of place, pride and community. Our projects include; Heeley People's Park, Sum Studios (saving a Grade 2 listed Victorian School and redeveloping as managed work space – this is bringing jobs and investment into our community), The Heeley Voice - a local magazine and Recycle Bikes – a social enterprise supporting disengaged young people to gain training, confidence, work experience and jobs. If you are interested in any of our projects, would like to get involved or are willing to volunteer any of your time please do not hesitate to contact us or give us your feedback.
