Newcastle Report written by Damu
On a sunny Monday afternoon, two Goodgymers ran alongside local inspiration, Leodhais, as he completed his epic 128th marathon in 128 days.
The challenge was to raise awareness about suicide and its prevention, in honour of his brother who sadly took his life in 2018.
So, as you can imagine it was a very emotional day, as we strode along the North Tyneside coast. It was a great feeling to be a part of the journey, alongside so many people, and as well as raising over £70k for two great causes, hopefully it also made a real difference to a least one person's life.

It was visit number five to Magret's plot at the Greenhill View Allotments. Those of you who have been to a session here before or have been following the reports will know that this is quite a big plot which was completely overgrown before our first visit two months ago. You may also remember that it's been warm with no rain since we started so it's been getting harder and harder to dig the weeds out and keep them down. Progress has definitely been slow over the last two sessions. Last night though, the long awaited rain came and what a difference it made! We were finally able to get to the far end of the plot. We also re-positioned some pieces of wood around the edges, so the plot looks complete! Task owner Sue seemed delighted when she returned and we hope Magret will be too. She's already begun planting some veg with the help of a friend. Hopefully the plot will now flourish!
Unfortunately my GoodGym IT gremlins persist so I have only been able to upload one photo. I'll share the rest in our WhatsApp and Facebook groups so hop over there to marvel at the difference we've made!

Clearing some ground will make it possible for the land to be cultivated and therefore provide food for an allotment tenant

Leazes Park is trying to regain its Green Flag and four GoodGymers attempted to help by clearing some litter from the park. The litter was slightly harder to find than usual, so it looks like we weren't the first litter pickers in the park recently.
Good luck to Leazes Park in regaining the Green Flag!
