Two goodgymers help Newcastle Parks and Allotments on a wet Saturday morning. I had done Jesmond Dene parkrun in the park and Adam had won his football match before hand.
The main job was simple - cutting back spiky plants the edge of a main path. This would make the path less over grown for the many people using it.
We had a break to do a different job of carrying tables from the bowls building back the case where they belong.
We managed to finish the section we were working on before the worst of the rain, making the path less prickly for park users!

Today, two goodgymers cycled over to Gateshead to the HerbHub Allotment, to help out with the efficiency of a big ol' water butt.
This involved moving 10 heavy concrete slabs (four of these being really really heavy!!) a short distance - from the wheelbarrow to the new position in the pictures. This is so any rainfall doesn't have to navigate a complex guttering system, and instead pour pretty much straight into the butt.
With some impressive weightlifting on show, the task was completed in around half an hour, but was one of those tasks that could've easily been left for months to happen - so HerbHub were definitely grateful indeed :)
Hopefully Chris' blister from a pesky pinch point doesn't prove too painful!

Around 220 cyclists pedalled 50km around the streets of Newcastle all in solidarity with Palestine.
It was a ride full of hope and noise, and a lot of money has been raised so far for MECA and Gaza Sunbirds. You can donate below if you feel you can:
