Camden Report written by Rosie Ashworth
This was a nice indoor mission for a chilly evening- moving some furniture for Ms S in her flat in Camden.
Ms S broke her leg a few months ago which meant she was living out of one room in her flat. She told us that she had had to hire removal men to move her furniture and make space for a hospital bed and other equipment. This time however, she phoned Age Concern and they recommended Goodgym!
Happily her leg is on the mend and she can move around her flat again, so our task was to move the furniture back to its original places. Ms S showed us where everything needed to go and then we set to work. Many hands made light work and we were done in little over half an hour. Ms S was hugely grateful and said she was looking forward to using her rooms again.

Amy Hoye run a race with GoodGym for the first time.
Amy has done their first race with GoodGym. Performing on the day is a lot of pressure; Amy's dealt with the nerves and turned up on the day to make it happen.

9 Chelmsford Goodgymers went to the Great Baddow Charity races.
After a shower in the morning (of the rain variety) the sunshine came out to heat up the day just in time for the race. A good turn out from the team with 4 of us running and 5 supporting from the pub, We made sure everyone saw the best of good gym. Good runs from Richard and Richard and Gerry sporting a 5 minute pb and we were all in (I ran it too!)
The support on the course was excellent, but definitely loudest where the Goodgym Cheer crew were stationed. A really hot day completed with a trip to the pub to re-hydrate!
A massive thanks to all those who attended, it was a really good day and we also got to catch up with Grace from Mencap and a few more members of the team!

13 ran to Farleigh's hospice to help with the Mencap garden
We met at the Hub prepared for the longest run we have attempted at Goodgym Chelmsford. As we were heading to Farleigh's hospice to help with the garden run by Mencap.
This garden was conceived around 2 years ago and had been close to completion before the interruption of a mole! The Mole had been busy digging underneath the garden and popping up between the planters! So it was Goodgym to the rescue! The garden should be having an opening event in mid June, so there was no time to waste as we collected the sand from the paths between the planters and put it in bags so that it can be re-distributed once a new base has been laid.
We filled the three bags provided and found another in the green house and filled that too! Everyone put in loads of effort in double quick time so that we could begin the run back before sundown!
Further to our great efforts in the garden, everyone managed the run back with aplomb, and we returned to base on schedule. I am really pleased with everyone's efforts!
On Sunday it is Great Baddow 10 mile race and we will have several of us running and more of us providing a cheer station on route. I think this is a great opportunity to give us good visibility and promote our good work, and good running! If you can come along that would be great! Meet at the start on Baddow Rec. by 10.30am for a 11 am start.
Next week we are helping Chess make their new building a better place, and its a shorter run!

Thirteen ran to Cathedral School to prepare the gardens
Thirteen green fingered GoodGymmers doubled up on the goodness with a pre-task, task.
First stop at ‘Titanic’ Chelmsford’s Titanic Exhibition opening this Friday at the bottom of Bond Street. A quick furniture drop from the fabulous Idea’s Hub to Titanic then on to Cathedral School to don our gardening gloves and prepare some pots and beds for the Community’s Seedlings to grow their own!
After Edith explained the task we split into groups, the first got started on weeding pots which we rearranged to make it easier for the children to get to a pot each. Once this was complete we moved on to the beds around the entrance to the school. Whilst all this was going on the other group dug barrow loads of compost to add some lovely topsoil. We also removed excess pots and recycled the soil adding it to the composters so that it can be reused.
Brief suicide sprints in the playground got everyone warmed up again and then onto the Bunny walks to add a little distance to the run. We ran down to the end of the university and back through the grounds ending with a jog through the Cathedral before meeting back at the Hub.
Thanks to Laurie and Gerry for back marking, and good luck Gerry in your upcoming marathon.
Don’t forget the next GoodGym social next Thursday night, details on Facebook would be great to see you all there.

During today's starter session, 4 amazing goodgymmers ran 2km and helped out at Christ the Saviour Parish Church!
It was rather a grey day but that didn't stop Angel and Hannah from coming along for their first ever session! Amazing work ladies!
We started with a (very!) short jog next door to CSP Church where we were greeted with a smile from Tracey and we got to work. We helped take down their beautiful, real Christmas trees! And, Christmas trees being Christmas trees, taking off the lights was a mission in detangling and team work! We had the lovely Tracey and a couple more helpers from the church too and in no time we had removed all baubles and were deadlifting the trees outside...you folks are strong! This also involved some skilled manoeuvring to get it in and out of the doors but hey, all in a days work for team Ealing!
And then it was on to the running!! We headed off to Walpole park, quite a glorious park with a good 0.8mile/1.3km loop to run around. We did a good slow warm up before starting a run-walk programme taking a minute to run and minute to rest each time. This is such a good way of training for all levels to increase your running fitness and distance.
Then, after a quick photo op it was back to Bodyline Studio for some stretches and a nice cool down. It was an amazing morning and it was so great to meet such lovely people who are so keen to get back into their running! Keep up the great work ladies and see you very soon!! Sign up to the next starter session here.

7 Goodgym Chelmsford runners helped pack up after the Santa run
Goodgym Chelmsford were pleased to be able to help Farleigh's Hospice Pack up after their Santa run. After the mornings set up 2 of the team Laurie and Richard ran the event, sporting the red and white of Goodgym in addition to their red and white Santa suits.
Once we had retreated for a quick brunch we collected to help take down the easy up tents and marquees we had put up earlier. 7 tents and 2 Marquee's were quickly taken down and loaded on to the van(s) along with signs, barriers, weights and bottles.
The team from Farleigh's said that was the fastest clear up they had ever achieved! Whilst the thanked us for our hard work they said they would not tell everyone so that we were available to help at any other events they have!
Another great job done by the team and the event was enjoyed by over 700 "Santa's" raising money for this great cause.
